Same but different by Dr G

A curious title, what do I mean ?

As many of you will know the practice has been run by my brother Dr Jude D'Cruz and myself since 1987. I actually started 2 years earlier - July 1st 1985. Dr Jude, in more recent years, has devoted more time to his area of special interest - Endoscopy - and has successfully established one of the first accredited GP based endoscopy services in the UK, available on the NHS "Choose and Book" website. He is currently on an extended sabbatical working in Australia where he hopes to gain further experience and additional qualifications. He has however decided that upon his return to the UK he will no longer have the time to devote to core general practice work, what is needed. So after 25 years the D'Cruz partnership will be ceasing as of November 30th 2012. I together with Nurse Kim and Jacqui successfully applied to the Primary Care Trust for the existing Primary Care Contract (previously held by the two brothers) to be novated to the three of us. While most commonly GPs work in partnerships, as a lot of younger GPs prefer salaried positions these days while they find their feet, Kim Jacqui and myself decided to set up a private limited company that is very much within the NHS family and allowed by the rules. This is a first for Berkshire if not much further afield. A limited company has advantages that we feel will enable us to better negotiate the changes that lie ahead for GPs and others working in Primary Care. We chose the name Camillus Health Care Ltd for our new company though we will continue to use Pembroke Surgery as we do not wish to cause any confusion. All our staff remain the same, the list of services we offer from our two sites is unchanged and so while very different on one level, it is business as usual for our patients. If you have any questions please do feel free to email me on gerarddcruz@nhs.net.
