Senior Partner, MBBS (London) BSc (Pharm) graduated St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, in 1981, fully registered by the General Medical Council in 1982, and has been a principal in General Practice since 1985. Interests include minor surgery, diagnostic ultrasound & service development.
Currently supported by two regular locum GPs, Dr Hitesh Rana (Male) with a specialist interest in Orthopaedics and Dr Bushra Bi (Female) will be joining us from February 2018.
Our full time GP is assisted by a team of nurses led by Kim Frewin, a nurse prescriber with a background in paediatrics and health visiting. Nurse Leah is a qualified prescribing Nurse Practitioner with a background in acute and tropical medicine. We currently also utilise a small number of doctors, to cover additional sessions.
To help us manage the demand for appointments, we have developed a triage system to ensure patients are seen in a timely manner which reflects their clinical need. In early October 2014 we also started utilising the services of a qualified Prescribing Pharmacist Mr Mohammed Rafiq to continue to help us manage patient demand appropriately. In January 2016 we will joined by another Prescribing Pharmacist Mr Jaffer Rashid.
Mr Rafiq specialises in all medication reviews for patients on repeat medications, minor ailments management, Long-term condition support (e.g. diabetes, asthma and hypertension medication management).
Mr Rashid specialises in mental health and depression management as well as minor ailments management, long term condition reviews and he is also qualified to cover smoking cessation courses with our patients.
Background in paediatrics and health visiting. Nurse Leah is also a fully qualified Nurse Practitioner with a background in Acute and Tropical Medicine.
Practice Nurse Zahra Eshtiaghi supports Kim Frewin with our daily practice nurse requirements.
Health Care Assistants (HCAs) and part time Phlebotomists help us with health promotion activities and in monitoring those with long term conditions such as high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes and heart disease.
The Practice Manager is supported by a number of highly skilled staff. Our admin staff look after the running of the practice in general and in particular, the front of house, reception. At times it can get very hectic so apologies if you are delayed. Please note that our staff are working to the policies and guidelines set out by our own Senior Management Team, which are in line with both Department of Health and local healthcare protocols.
Our community midwife helps our medical team look after our pregnant women. Currently the midwife sees our patients on a Monday at our Alexandra Road site this will be changing in May 2017 and all our patients will then be attending the local Children's centre nearest their home address for all their midwife ante-natal care appointments.
Our District Nurses and Community Matron work closely with medical and social care teams to oversee care arrangements for those who are housebound, or in need of care at home for a period following discharge from hospital.
