Dear Patients,
We will be holding joint Covid and Flu Clinics this Autumn from Saturday 19th October 2024.
We will shortly be sending out text message invitations to all eligible patients with the link to book your appointment directly. Whilst many patients will be eligible for both vaccines, some patients will only be eligible for one of the vaccines – see below for more details.
Criteria of eligibility for the Flu vaccine is:
- People aged 65 years or over
- Patients in long-stay residential care homes
- All patients in clinical risk groups aged 6 months to less than 18
- Those aged 18 to under 64 years in clinical risk groups
- Carers in receipt of carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person
- Pregnant women
- Children aged 2 and 3 on 31 August 2024
- Those with close contacts to people with compromised immune systems
- Frontline health or social care workers
The clinical at-risk groups are as follows:
- Lung, heart, kidney, liver & neurological diseases
- Diabetes
- Asthma and Chronic Respiratory diseases
- Chronic Renal Disease
- Pregnancy
- Suppressed immunity
- BMI of 40 or above
Those eligible for an autumn covid vaccine are:
- All adults aged 65 years and over
- Persons aged 6 months to 64 years in a clinical risk group
- Residents in a care home for older adults and staff working in care homes for older adults
- Persons aged 16 to 64 years who are carers
- Persons aged 12 to 64 years who are household contacts of people with immunosuppression
- Frontline health and social care workers
The clinical at-risk groups are as follows:

- Diabetes
- Asthma and Chronic Respiratory diseases
- Pregnancy
- Suppressed immunity
- BMI of 40 or above
- Severe mental illness
- Asplenia or dysfunction of the spleen
If we do not have your mobile number and you are eligible for vaccination, you may receive this invitation via email. If you do not have access to both, we will help you book your appointment at the surgery. Aside from that, there is no need to contact the surgery regarding this.
